“He chose to volunteer and go back for a second tour.”
I listened to the Isay giving the interview to his friend Gordan Bolar. The story is being told by Gordon Bolar, telling the story of his son, who served as two tours in the military and got killed in Iraq by a roadside bomb in 2007. Bolar talked about his memory of his son, things that happened few weeks before his son's death. Bolar is telling the story on the way how he wants people to remember his son. This story is very emotional and Bolar done a great job of telling stories of his dead son, because it takes lot of courage to do such thing.
When Isay gave the interview to Gordan Bolar, Isay was asking question about Bolar memory of his son Matthew. Bolar talked about when Matthew first talked to him about serving the military, Bolar said although inside of him, he is refusing to let his son go to army because he doesn't want to see his son living in dangerous condition, but Bolar still shows full support to his son's decision and let him go the way he want, so Matthew won't be regretting later on. Isay also asked about how Bolar wants people to remember his son, Bolar said he wants people to know Matthew was very caring, have a brave soul to serve his country, and he had done his job for the country.
I learned a lot from the story of Matthew, knowing we have a lot of brave soul in the country we are willing to serve the country although having to putting their life in risk. Everyone who are or had served in the military should be getting great amount of respect from the we. Gordan Bolar is welling and feeling proud to tell his son's story. Bolar said how Matthew not only cares about his family, but also his own country. Something that stuck out to me about this story is the fact that Gordan Bolar is a very tough man and a great father. Telling story on his own died child is not an easy thing to do. I want to show my full respect to Bolar for telling this story and teaching me some life lesson.
