terkel-a0a1z7-b.rm
This interview is mainly about interviewing a Irish American Betty Rundle about her view on the racism issues happened in Chicago during 1970s. How her life changed, and what she had been through.
Terkel asked about the interviewee, Betty Rundle's own feeling on the racial problems she been through when she was in her 30s. They best question Terkel asked, is what problem did Betty been through in her own life that is cosider a racism problem, and asked her to provide an example. The tone in his interview is he have a query and questioning tone. Terkel's style of interview is that he loves to ask the interviewee for more detail to their answer, and he likes to rephrase things the interviewee said in the previous answers. The most interesting response I heard is when Betty said when she was still a teacher, she have no problem getting alone with the African American, they all like her and she said when she had a problem, that's when they are white and black student in the same room. I learned from the interview that sometime when I have a chance, I could try to rephrase some of the answers the interviewee to ask they if I got a clear idea of what they were telling me. They most interesting aspect in this interview would be knowing that sometime, you can be off topic for a moment and provide more background information on the question you are being ask for, so the interviewer can get idea from your point of view.
